About Cabela’s

Cabela’s is a specialty retailer of hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear and accessories. The company was founded in 1961 by Richard N. Cabela and his wife Mary Cabela in their home in Chappell, Nebraska. The couple started the company by selling fishing flies through the mail. Over the years, the company expanded its product offerings to include hunting and camping gear. In 1987, Cabela’s opened its first retail store in Sidney, Nebraska, which was followed by several other stores throughout the United States, and now all of the locations around the country today.
