About Sonic

Sonic Drive-In, also known simply as Sonic, is a fast-food restaurant chain primarily known for its menu of classic American drive-in food and its use of carhops on roller skates. The chain was founded in Shawnee, Oklahoma, in 1953 by Tony Smith. At the time, the restaurant was known as the Top Hat Drive-In and served typical drive-in fare such as hamburgers and milkshakes. In the years that followed, the chain expanded and rebranded as Sonic, and became known for its distinctive menu items, drive-in atmosphere, and friendly, retro-style service.
