About Whataburger

Whataburger is a fast food restaurant chain that was founded in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, by Harmon Dobson and Paul Burton. The chain’s name was inspired by Dobson’s observation that a burger should be so big that when someone picks it up to take a bite, they exclaim “What a burger!” Initially, Whataburger was a small roadside stand that served burgers for just 25 cents. The restaurant’s unique orange and white striped A-frame buildings and distinctive “W” logo helped it to stand out and attract customers. In the following years, Whataburger expanded rapidly, opening locations across Texas and later in other states.
